Eric Martinson, University of Hawaii Board of Regents former chairman, has resigned from the board Wednesday, a year before his term was to expire.
Martinson joined the regents in 2009 and served as chair in 2011 and 2012. He submitted his letter of resignation to theGovernor Neil Abercrombie lasty week Monday, citing personal reasons for stepping down.
The University of Hawaii at Manoa released this statement:
Regent and former Chair Eric Martinson has tendered his resignation as a regent to the governor for personal reasons. His service to the University of Hawaii and the state is deeply appreciated and he will be greatly missed. We wish him the best and send our aloha.
