Metro Council to consider resolution on federal budget

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The Metro Council could weigh in on the federal budget fight at its meeting Tuesday night.

Members are set to consider a resolution urging Congress to end the sequester spending cuts.

The resolution also calls on lawmakers to balance the federal budget without cuts to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid, and restructure the tax code so that everyone pays their fair share.

If approved, copies of the resolution will be sent to Tennessee's lawmakers in Washington.
