Former Sacred Hearts teacher accused of sexually assaulting student pleads not guilty

A former Sacred Hearts teacher accused of sexually assaulting a female teenage student pleaded not guilty on Monday via a video conference from the Oahu Community Correctional Facility.

On August 9, Hawaii News Now reported that Plourde had been charged with seven counts of sexual assault following the alleged incident, including one count of first-degree sexual assault and six counts of second-degree sexual assault.

Plourde, a 29-year teaching veteran at Sacred Hearts Academy in Honolulu, was dismissed by school officials just hours before he was placed under arrest by police on suspicion of the assaults.

Trial in the case has been tentatively scheduled to begin on October 21, 2013.
