Two California visitors rescue 3-year-old from near-drowning
MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) -
A 3-year-old girl is recovering after nearly drowning in a pool at the Honua Kai Resort in Ka'anapali on Maui.
The girl was found floating on the surface of the pool. A bystander saw the child and called for help. Officials say a nurse and firefighter paramedic visiting from California responded first, giving rescue breaths and oxygen with equipment.
Emergency crews took over and trasnported the 3-year-old to Maui Memorial in stable condition.
Ladder 3 Captain, Kevin McAfee, said that the two first responders "set in motion the precise actions and treatment the patient required at that moment to survive this incident."
