TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -
A judge pushed back Angela Steinfurth's pretrial to Sept. 4 to allow her public defender to review evidence against her.
Her defense attorney said in court Wednesday morning that they need time to look over video evidence of Steinfurth speaking with police. They have been waiting for the footage from the prosecutor and wanted to review it before setting a trial date, however, they didn't receive the DVDs until moments before Wednesday's proceedings.
A trial date could be set during the Sept. 4 pretrial.
Angela Steinfurth is being charged with obstruction of justice in connection to the disappearance of her 1-year-old daughter, Elaina. She is currently being held in the Lucas County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
nobody likes to wait, but I'd rather things be done right than them to
and have a mistrial or anything to happen in a case like this," said TJ
Steinfurth, Elaina's father and Angela's estranged husband.
they actually said they have something, and they had to go over it, and her
attorney had to talk to her about that - we're happy, we're really happy," said Ginger Smith, a cousin of the Steinfurths.
"Because she came in smiling, but when she left she wasn't smiling."
Steinfurth's former boyfriend, Steven King, is also being charged with obstruction of justice in connection to the disappearance. King remains in jail on a $250,000 bond.
The Lucas County Prosecutor's Office is investigating Elaina's disappearance as a homicide, but police say they are still treating it as a missing persons investigation.
