AU hires new Director of Basketball Operations

Nikki Stewart Nikki Stewart

Nikki Stewart has been hired onto the Auburn Women's Basketball staff as Director of Basketball Operations, head coach Terri Williams-Flournoy announced Tuesday.

As the Director of Basketball Operations, Stewart will be in charge of team travel, game day preparations, monitoring players' academic progress and handling community service for the student-athletes.

"For the Director of Basketball Operations position, you want someone who is more of an administrative-type that understands the business side of running the program and Nikki is that person," said Williams-Flournoy. "Her background in both the sports and corporate worlds make a great mixture and will really help with what we want to get done here."

Stewart is a 2002 graduate of the University of Tennessee where she graduated magna cum laude with her degree in political science. While at UT, she served as a manager for the Lady Vol women's basketball team for two seasons and was promoted to head manager as a senior.

From Knoxville, she moved on to law school at Vanderbilt University, graduating from the VU Law School in 2005. While there she served as chairperson of the Vanderbilt Student Athletic Committee, a group that worked to incorporate the student-athletes into the general undergraduate community.

A native of Atlanta, Ga., Stewart returned to her home area in 2006 and held positions as an Associate Attorney at both Smith & Williams, and Hall, Booth, Smith & Stover law firms.

She spent the 2010-11 season with the Kentucky women's basketball team as a recruiting and operations assistant. While there, she prepared correspondence, maintained the recruiting database and filing system, and provided camp and clinic administration.

She returned to the legal world in 2011 as a project attorney with King & Spalding in Atlanta. She then took a similar position with Alston & Bird.
