Honolulu warehouse cited with 63 health violations

HONOLULU (AP) - The U.S. Department of Labor has slapped a Honolulu warehouse that stores refrigerated food with more than 60 health and safety violations.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported Monday that the agency claims violations include failure to label exit routes, inadequate electrical equipment and mismanagement of hazardous chemicals.

According to officials, the warehouse is occupied by Unicold Corp. and nine other tenants.

Inspectors issued 63 violations in all and have proposed at least $250,000 in fines.

Other citations involve missing stair railings, unguarded floor openings and deficiencies in Unicold's plan for workplace emergencies.

The inspections were conducted in February by both the agency's Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the state.
