A 35-foot commercial fishing vessel sank early Sunday morning while it was docked at Kewalo Basin.
Crews from the Honolulu Fire Department were alerted by the owner when the boat started taking on water shortly before 4 a.m., but when they arrived at the scene, the vessel has taken on too much water for them to pump out.
At this point, it is still unknown what caused the boat to sink, but officials worked for most of Sunday trying to contain diesel oil from leaking into the water.
The vessel was floated at around noon on Sunday using floatation devices. The owner is responsible for the costs of salvaging, officials said.
