Crews called to water main break in Kalama Valley

Possible water main break in Kalama Valley

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Board of Water Supply (BWS) crews are responding to a water main break located at the intersection of Kealahou Street and Kahului Street in Kalama Valley.

The repairs to the main has resulted in the partial closure of the makai bound lane of Kealahou Street between Kahului Street and Olowalu Place.  As a result of the closure in this area, makai bound traffic is being diverted onto Kahului Street.

The mauka bound lane will remain open at this time.  Special duty HPD officers are assisting with traffic control.

Approximately six customers are affected by this main break.  A water wagon will be positioned to provide water to affected customers.  The size of the main is undetermined at this time.  The break was reported at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution when traveling through the work area and to use alternate routes where possible.
