Scotland (HawaiiNewsNow) - Talk about a mixed bag of emotions. Michelle Wie didn't have much time to sulk over a 56th place finish at the LPGA's British Open.
Moments after carding a 3-over par 75 in the final round at St. Andrews, the Punahou grad learned she was added to the U.S.A.'s Solheim Cup team as the Captains pick.
"I've said all along you have to be able to handle the pick," captain Meg Mallon said. "Michelle Wie can handle being on a big stage, being a big pick."
"As soon as I heard those words, I just started bawling," Wie said. "I started crying and nodding my head yes. I'm just so happy."
The Solheim Cup runs from Aug. 16-18.
