LINDALE, TX (KLTV) -
A Smith County sheriff's deputy has been involved in an accident this morning.
The accident occurred at Hwy. 69 and Old Dallas-Shreveport Road north of Lindale, just south of Faulkner Park. The Department of Public Safety, Lindale Police and Lindale Fire Department have responded to the accident.
According to our reporter on the scene, the second vehicle in the accident is a white Toyota Tacoma. The truck, in which several people, including children, were traveling, overturned and ended up in a ditch. The people in the truck have been transported by Champion EMS to a local hospital. DPS says the people are not believed to have life-threatening injuries.
DPS on the scene also said that the deputy may have been responding to a call at the time of the wreck, but they do not know if the deputy was running emergency lights or sirens. The deputy was not injured.
Both southbound lanes are shut down on Hwy. 69.
We have a reporter on the scene and we will continue to update as more information becomes available.
