HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
Honolulu police have reopened the Likelike Highway again after multiple accidents near and inside the Wilson Tunnel in the Kailua-bound direction.
Multiple crashes have occurred in the area Monday, six of which happened inside and right outside the Wilson Tunnel on the Likelike Highway, according to John Cummings, spokesman for Oahu's Department of Emergency Management. One invovled up to three cars.
City paramedics transported one person to the hospital from one of the crashes on the Likelike Highway, an Emergency Medical Services spokesman said.
The Honolulu Police Department reports at least nine motor vehicle crashes in the last hour between about 3:15 and 4:15 p.m. on Oahu.
Officials have reported that a combination of slick roads and fast driving may be contributing to the increased number of collisions.
Motorists are advised to slow down and drive with caution. With many City, State and other employees being released early due to Tropical Storm Flossie the Department of Emergency Mangement asks that residents drive safely and be aware of hazardous road conditions.
