LIHUE, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

 

A structure fire in the Ulu Ko subdivision on Kauai caused roughly $200,000 in damage to a home and its contents.

Officials say no one was injured in the blaze.

Firefighters responded to the incident on Alaekea Street at about 2:50 p.m. Saturday. At the scene, they found smoke coming from the second story windows. Upon entering the home it was discovered that a couch on the first floor was on fire. 

Responders were able to contain most of the damage to the ground floor and the fire was under control by 3:06 p.m. There was some smoke damage which spread to the second floor.  Damage to the structure is estimated at $150,000, while damage to contents is estimated at $50,000.

According to neighbors, no one is currently occupying the home

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
