ORIGINAL STORY:
Emergency rescue crews will resume searching for two missing hikers near the back of Waianae Valley on Friday morning.

A Honolulu Fire Department spokesperson tells Hawaii News Now that two hikers started hiking late in the afternoon on Thursday along a trail that leads to Mount Ka'ala. They later became lost and called for help.

Rescue crews were unable to reach them on Thursday because of weather-related issues that made flying a rescue helicopter difficult.

The hikers are reportedly in contact with rescue crews.

The two hikers, a man and a woman, are not believed to be in an area of danger and are staying in place, an HFD officials says. Neither hiker is believed to be injured.

The search is scheduled to resume as soon as weather permits.
