Heavy showers, thunderstorms possible for Kauai and Oahu

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service (NWS) in Honolulu is forecasting locally heavy showers and the potential of isolated thunderstorms on Oahu and Kauai today.

NWS says that daytime heating over Oahu and Kauai will create instability that will lead to potentially heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms.

Forecasters say that muggy weather will be felt on the other islands through tonight.

Stronger trade winds and more settled weather will return for the second half of the week.

The forecast for early next week is being called "highly uncertain" since a tropical system may be approaching the islands.
