SANDUSKY, OH (Press Release) -
Investigators were at Cedar Point on Saturday trying to determine what caused a boat on the "Shoot the Rapids" ride to accidentally roll backwards on the lift hill.
On Friday night Cedar Point issued a statement saying that at approximately 6:45 p.m. Friday, rider operators stopped the Shoot the Rapids ride after a boat rolled back down the lift hill.
They say all seven guests on the boat were transported to Cedar Point's First Aid Station. Six were evaluated and treated by Cedar Point EMS staff and released. One was transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, where they were treated and released.
"The safety of our guests is our number one priority," the statement said.
Cedar Point officials are investigating the incident and have reported it to state officials. Shoot the Rapids will remain closed until park officials and inspectors from the state of Ohio complete their review.
