Suspicious letter closes part of HPD headquarters

HONOLULU (AP) - A suspicious letter closed a basement level of the Honolulu Police Department headquarters.

A police spokeswoman said Friday afternoon employees were not evacuated from the building. She didn't have details about the letter or why it was considered suspicious.

She says a hazardous materials crew from the Honolulu Fire Department was investigating.  The 'all clear' was given a short time later, according to fire officials.
