CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The former Lakewood Hospital doctor accused of molesting a female patient about to go into surgery, pled not guilty at his arraignment Friday afternoon.

The judge set bond at $500,000 for Dr. Ramez Reda Gharabawy and also ordered home monitoring.

Dr. Gharabawy is facing two counts of rape and two more for gross sexual imposition.

The alleged incident happened back in march.

Court papers say the doctor molested a woman in the pre-op room, while getting ready for surgery. The records also show it happened during some kind of procedure the doctor was performing.

Lakewood Police did the investigation.

19 Action News called the doctor looking for a comment, but there was no answer.

Cleveland clinic tells us - it's cooperating with the investigation - and the doctor is no longer working there.

The Cleveland Clinic, which runs Lakewood Hospital, released the following statement:

"The safety of our patients is a primary concern and we appreciate that this patient reported the incident. We reported this to the appropriate authorities and are fully cooperating with the investigation. The doctor is no longer employed by the hospital."

Earlier this year, we also uncovered a similar story involving a student nurse at Fairview Hospital. James Lewis is accused of sexually assaulting a woman as she was having a baby. He has plead not guilty, and that case is still pending.
