HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Hawaii's flower industry continues to wilt. New statistics from the U.S. Department of Agriculture show sales of flowers used in lei are down.

Overall nursery sales of orchids, poinsettias and other plants reached $69 million last year.

That is a drop of about 1 percent from the previous year, and sales have declined for five straight years from the peak year of 2007.

Sales in that year reached $109 million.
