HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Another golf-ball looking marine vessel has arrived in Hawaii waters. It is a radar-equipped ship similar to the Sea-based X-band Radar that is often docked at Pearl Harbor.
This ship is named the SS Pacific Tracker. It is an old converted commercial cargo ship, now under the ownership and operation of the United States Missile Defense Agency. Its globe-like radars perform the same duties as the SBX, but are smaller and less powerful.
The Pacific Tracker is being used to support missile defense flight tests, but will soon return to its home-port of Portland, Oregon.
