KIHEI, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Police on Maui arrested a 60-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl as she lay in her bed.

At about 12:30 a.m. on July 10, police say Zdenek Behuncik entered the victim's apartment in Kihei as she and her family were sleeping and sexually assaulted her. Police say the girl's mother was awakened by the sound of her daughter crying about a man in her room. The mother got up and found him standing over her daughter with a flashlight in his mouth.

Police say she chased the suspect out of the apartment and called police with his description, which included having a key ring and a flashlight in his possession.

A police officer found the suspect in the parking lot, still holding the flashlight and key ring. Behuncik was arrested and charged for sexual assault in the first degree and burglary. His bail is set at $150,000.
