World's largest ukulele festival on Oahu Sunday

HONOLULU (AP) - Jake Shimabukuro and other ukulele musicians will be returning to Kapiolani Park this weekend for the world's largest ukulele festival.

Ukulele teacher Roy Sakuma has been organizing the event in Honolulu each year since 1971 to show the ukulele can be played as a solo instrument and not just as background music.

The music will begin at Kapiolani Park Bandstand at 10 am. Sunday and last until 4 p.m.

The 43rd Annual Ukulele Festival will also feature Ohta San and Nando Suan, Brittni Paiva, Herb Ohta Jr. and Jon Yamasato, Paula Fuga and other artists.

Roy Sakuma Children's Ukulele Band will perform at different times throughout the festival.
