HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Grace Lee sits down with Director of the Paliku Academy of Performing Arts John-Paul Tai to talk about a special bone marrow event, and how you can get involved.

Alana Dung lost her battle with leukemia in 1997 at age 3, after thousands turned out for the largest statewide bone marrow drive. The Paliku Academy of Performing Arts hopes put together 'On Dragonfly Wings' to allow a new generation to learn about the story of Alana Dung and the great cause.

The theatrical group will be co-hosting a bone marrow drive from 3 - 5pm at Ala Moana Center on Saturday, July 13 at the temporary stage fronting Nordstrom. Any Hawaii Resident ages 18+ can simply complete an informational form and swab of the inside of the cheek. Entertainment including local celebrities and songs from our show will be presented at the stage.

The Hawaii Bone Marrow Donor Registry and the Alana Dung Research Foundation will also be at each of Paliku Academy of Performing Arts presentations of 'On Dragonfly Wings' to register audience members. Performances run July 19 - 28 at the Ronald E. Bright Auditorium. Tickets are available HERE.
