WAILUKU, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) -
Oakland Raiders linebacker and Baldwin High School graduate Kaluka Maiava is facing misdemeanor assault and criminal property damage charges in connection with a fight at a Maui bar in March, according to the Maui News.
Maiava and his brother, Ilima, were allegedly at the Life's A Beach bar in the Kihei Kalama Village on March 17 when they got into the altercation. Ilima also faces misdemeanor assault and criminal property damage charges.
The 27-year-old linebacker signed a three year, $6 million dollar contract with the Oakland Raiders just days before the alleged fight. He had been playing with the Cleveland Browns since they drafted him in 2009.
The two brothers are set to appear in Wailuku District Court later this month. Maiava's agent reportedly told the Maui News that he had no comment on the situation.
