HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

At least one flight from Honolulu to the Bay area was canceled due to the crash landing at the San Francisco International Airport, according to passengers who were booked on that flight.

United Airlines flight 1720 was scheduled to depart at 1:15 p.m.

The state Department of Transportation said that flight was the only cancellation among the eight arrivals and seven departures scheduled for San Francisco at Honolulu International Airport

Passengers were booked on to other flights. One family trying to return home to Philadelphia was rebooked on a flight from Honolulu to Chicago departing at 7:25 p.m.

"We actually knew before coming in that our flight was canceled," Jill Smelko of Pennsylvania said. "Immediately we were all rebooked."

A family from Norway also was scheduled on the same flight for a different reason.

"We are staying in San Francisco three days - vacation there," Tone Mjones said.

Smelko and her family were rebooked on a flight to Chicago departing Honolulu at 7:25 p.m. "They did re-book us, so we're all the way re-booked. We just have a longer flight and a longer time ahead of us," she said.

Mjones and her group were placed on another flight to San Francisco that wouldn't depart until 9:05 p.m.

Passengers reserved on a United flight scheduled to depart at 12:30 p.m. were told that their flight would leave on time for San Francisco.

"Apparently our flight is still going on," said visitor Laura Bellay of Canada. "No problem with our flight, so we're going through."

"There's no problem with the flight going through, and we'll see what happens," said Bellay's companion Patrick LeMay. The two were flying to Toronto via San Francisco.

Another one scheduled on board was former St. Louis School wide receiver Jeremy Tabuyo. He is headed to Texas A&M where he will play for the Aggies."I think they said the 1:15 flight is cancelled, but my flight is flying out, so I'm lucky," he said .

There was one flight en route to San Francisco at the time of the Asiana Airlines crash landing. That flight was diverted to Los Angeles. Another flight scheduled to leave at 9 p.m. Saturday also was reportedly cancelled.
