HONOLULU (AP) - The former head of the Honolulu Police Department's white collar crime unit has joined the Honolulu prosecutor's office.
Thanks to a federal grant, Chris Duque will serve as an investigator in the prosecuting attorney's white collar crime unit.
The prosecutor's office says Duque is 1 of Hawaii's leading cybercrimes investigators.
Prosecuting Attorney Keith Kaneshiro said in a statement this week that cybercrimes are a major threat because they can involve anything from identity theft to financial fraud to child pornography.
Duque was also instrumental in forming the Hawaii Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Since retiring from HPD, he's been an educational speaker and consultant on cybercrimes.
