Apparent lightning strike sparks three-alarm fire in Cabarrus County

CABARRUS COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

A family is living elsewhere after lightning apparently struck their home and caused a major fire.

Firefighters say it appears a bolt of lightning struck the house on Simplicity Road Friday night.

Investigators say everyone inside the home escaped unhurt. It is not clear how many people were inside when the fire started.

Video captured by a WBTV photographer shows major damage to the roof, along with areas in the front of the house.
