HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - It was a tough day for Hawaii surfers at the Oakley Pro Bali as both John John Florence and Fred Patacchia failed to advance to the quarterfinals.
Both surfers had to compete in the fifth round after failing to win their respective heats in round four.
After losing to Josh Kerr, Florence was eliminated by Joel Parkinson after the Australian posted a perfect 20 heat.
Patacchia lost to Michel Bourez in the fourth round, then later fell short against Mick Fanning.
Heading into round four, both Florence and Patacchia were the only two Hawaii surfers left in the field of 12.
