HONOLULU (AP) - The FBI is trying to find out how a Japanese hand grenade was placed beneath a park bench near the Fort DeRussy Chapel.

U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii Dennis Drake tells the Honolulu Star-Advertiser that the weapon was spotted at about 11 a.m. Sunday by someone attending the chapel.

Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts turned the hand grenade over to the FBI.

Drake says bomb-sniffing dogs were used to look for other weapons.

FBI spokesman Tom Simon says the agency is investigating the incident with the Army Criminal Investigation Command and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
