WOODBRIDGE, CT (WFSB) -

Police are searching for a man who investigators said shot at two women hitting and injuring one of them in a quiet rural road in Woodbridge overnight.

The suspected shooter and victims apparently knew each other because they drove out to a remote area near the Morris Road and Route 69 intersection and the Bethany line.

One of the women forced out of the car was shot in her hand and chest area. Police say she and the second woman ran for help, which was all caught on a 911 call.

"I was coming down the hill and a girl ran out in front of me saying she got shot," the caller told police dispatch. "She's in back of my truck."

The 911 call came in around 1:30 a.m.

Police said there were a total of four people in a vehicle traveling north on Route 69 when a fight broke out inside.

The vehicle pulled to the side of the road and the man inside ordered two of the woman out of the vehicle at gunpoint.

At that time, police said, the man shot one of the women. The unidentified victim was shot once in the hand and in the chest.

The shooter then fled the area in the vehicle, with a Hispanic woman driving.

The victim and the other woman were able to run and flag down a passerby, who then called police.

"Why don't you just lay down. She's bleeding pretty damn good here," the caller told dispatch.

The victim was brought to Yale-New Haven Hospital to be treated. Her injuries are believed to be non life-threatening, police said.

Police said they're now looking for Patrick Young, 20, with a last known address in Hartford with ties to the New Haven area. He's described a as a black man that stands 5' 7"  tall with tattoos on his neck.

The vehicle was described as a dark blue, four-door vehicle, possibly a Honda.

People, who live in this quiet neighborhood were rattled when the talked to Eyewitness News after seeing the crime scene at the end of their road.

"We were afraid to walk around the neighborhood and checking up on the older folks in the neighborhood to make sure they were aware and had their doors locked," said a woman in the neighborhood, who wishes not to be identified.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Young should call Woodbridge police at 203-387-2511
