Kauai group continues 3 year search for woman's killer

KAPAA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Sunday marks 3 years since murder victim Amber Jackson disappeared, but her loved ones still haven't given up to find her killer. Through the "Amber Jackson Justice Group," friends and family continue their campaign.

They're handing out flyers reminding people of a reward fund of more than $20,000 dollars for information leading to the culprit.

The 57 year old from Kapaa was found in a remote area of Kealia less than two weeks after she vanished. An autopsy revealed she had been assaulted. Her loved ones hope someone will come forward. One of Jackson's closest friends says it's scary to think the killer hasn't been caught.

"To have a murderer out there walking around. I just think if the community would just get more engaged and come forward with any kind of info it may help get this case solved," Teri Ceplo explained.

Her nephew, Matt Alexander, described her glowing personality.

"From the second you met her you could just tell there was something special about her. She was not intimidating in any way she just had a big heart and just welcomed every body and accepted everybody for who they are," he said somberly.

The case is being handled by a new Kauai County cold case unit called Ke Ahi Pio'ole. Anyone with tips is being asked to call Kauai Crimestoppers at 241-1887.
