CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) -

On Saturday, June 22, around 1p.m. the Cleveland Heights Police responded to a home in the 3400 block of Woodridge to check on the welfare of a female resident.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with an unidentified male who stated that his mother was in an upstairs room and was the victim of an assault.

Officers found the woman, later identified by family as Jualen Green, upstairs and unresponsive.

Authorities say it appears that Green was a victim of an apparent homicide.

CHPD reports that Green's 21-year-old grandson was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit and is now sitting in the Cleveland Heights Jail.

Green, according to her brother, helped everyone and added that he just wants the person responsible to be caught.

The victim leaves behind a son and adopted children too.

No further information is available at this time as officers continue their investigation.
