Men sought after car chase, shooting in Waipahu

Honolulu police have launched an attempted murder investigation after a group of men allegedly chased down and shot at two people in a car in Waipahu on Thursday night.

Investigators say the incident began at approximately 9:30 p.m., when a 48-year-old man and a 19-year-old man inside a car began arguing with a group of men later identified as suspects. The two left the area in their car, but were then reportedly pursued by the suspects.

During the chase, details of which were not immediately known, the two men crashed their vehicle near the Shell gas station in Waipahu and were then allegedly assaulted by the suspects. Police officials say three shots were then fired from a firearm by one of the suspects, with one of the bullets grazing the 48-year-old male.

The man reportedly refused treatment at the scene and was not taken by paramedics to a hospital.

A second bullet hit and damaged a vehicle belonging to a 46-year-old man, and a third struck the window of a house belonging to a 51-year-old woman.
