Fifteen baseball teams from all over the south will converge on Albany this weekend for the first ever AFLAC Georgia Classic.
Teams from Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, including the Albany Paulies and Posts 30 and 182, will compete this weekend.
Games will be held at Cavalier Field on Darton State's campus and at the Paul Eames Sports Complex.
Games begin Friday at 9 a.m. Day passes start at $5.
Darton State head baseball coach Scot Hemmings says this is just the first of what organizers hope are many more Classics.
"It's going to be a good brand of baseball, and I think each year we continue to do it, it will grow," Hemmings says. "Our ultimate goal is to have one in the summer and one in the fall, anywhere between 30 and 50 teams coming in, using all the facilities around Albany, and see how big we can make it."
