Crews douse another suspicious cane fire on Maui

KIHEI, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Maui firefighters have extinguished what they believe is another intentionally set cane fire.

The latest 'unscheduled' cane fire was reported Monday at 1:30 p.m. on North Kihei Road near the parking triangle area.

Officials say the fire scorched about a half acre and was brought under control at 2:07 p.m.

Damage was estimated at $2,500.

The fire was the seventh suspicious fire on the valley isle this month.
