Water main break knocks out service to Pearl City customers

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

UPDATE at 6:10 a.m. on MONDAY:
Board of Water Supply crews continue to work on a 1 1/2-inch service lateral, not a water main, as was previously reported. Water service was restored to seven customers at approximately 5:30 a.m.; one customer remains without water service at this time.

The eastbound lane of Noelani Street remains closed from Hoolaulea Street to Noelani Place. Motorists are advised to drive with caution in the area and to take an alternate travel route, if possible.

ORIGINAL STORY:
Eight customers are without power early Monday morning as crews work to complete repairs on a broken 8-inch water main on Noelani Street in Pearl City.

Sources at the scene say the break is at the corner of Ho'olaulea and Noelani streets.

A Honolulu Board of Water Supply spokesperson says a water wagon has been set up at 1164 Noelani St. to provide water to the affected customers.

The eastbound lane of Noelani Street will be closed from Hoolaulea Street to Noelani Place. Motorists are advised to drive with caution in the area and to take an alternate travel route, if possible.

Repairs are expected to last throughout the day, officials say.
