Community rallies behind cheerleader seriously injured in wreck

CLARKSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

One local community is rallying behind a Montgomery County cheerleader, who was seriously injured in a crash with one of her friends last month.

Kylie Eastin was released from Vanderbilt, while her friend Ashley Travis remains under hospital care.

Police arrested Roni Proctor in the case.  Officers say Proctor was driving under the influence when she hit the teens who were headed to Montgomery Central High School.

Hundreds of people showed up at a carnival at the Hilltop Market Saturday afternoon, for a benefit for both cheerleaders.

Kylie says she is amazed by the community's support.

Organizers sold T-shirts and tickets for carnival activities.
