WAILUKU, Hawaii (AP) - Merchants in a small town on the northern coast of Maui say they have misgivings about the arrival of a restaurant owned in part by veteran rock 'n' roller Gene Simmons.
Partners in the venture, a Rock & Brews restaurant and bar, say it will not be blasting Kiss music in Paia.
Paia Merchants Association director Rose Potter tells the Maui News that the community is concerned about keeping its character and charm.
Rock & Brews founding partner Michael Zislis says the restaurant will be designed to blend in with Paia and will be family-friendly.
He says the group's three other restaurants have a children's playground and bench seating for families.
The restaurant hopes to open by the end of the year.
