Waipahu native dies after brutal beating in Oregon

MCMINNVILLE, OREGON (HawaiiNewsNow) - A man who grew up in Hawaii died after a brutal beating in Oregon. A candlelight vigil was held on Sunday night for Waipahu native Andrew Agcaoili. Authorities say the 31-year-old and a friend were involved in a fight outside a nightclub in McMinnville with four to six other men a week ago. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and died days later. Family and friends want justice for this father of two young girls.

"Hearing things like her asking who's going to be her daddy now, it's hard," said the victim's nephew, Rodel Agcaoili.

"He was a great father, a great uncle, brother, and friend to everyone that knew him in his short period of life. He will never be forgotten," said friend Melissa Groeneveld.

Detectives are interviewing the other men involved in the fight. A memorial service will be held in Oregon on June 18.
