(HawaiiNewsNow) - June 4 is the 71st anniversary of the turning point in the Battle of Midway, in which Japan tried to wreak a second blow to the U.S. just a few months after Pearl Harbor. Instead, the Americans sank four Japanese aircraft carriers, doing irreparable damage to the Japanese war effort, having cracked Japanese codes to get advance warning of the trap the Japanese admirals were laying for them. Jonathan Parshall, co-author of "Shattered Sword: The Untold Story of the Battle of Midway," joins us to talk about this important piece of history.
Parshall has a book signing at 4.p.m, a reception at 5:30 p.m. and a presentation at 6:30 p.m., at the Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor, 441-1000. Tickets are online at Education@PacificAviationMuseum.org.
