HAWAII KAI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - UPDATE at 5:55 a.m.:
All lanes of Kalanianaole Highway in Hawaii Kai have been reopened after crews finished repairing the portion of the road affected by a water main break.
Board of Water Supply (BWS) crews are responding to the 8-inch main break in the vicinity of the Wailupe Fire Station on Kalanianaole Highway.
Six customers are currently without water service. A water wagon is being provided near the break to provide water for the affected customers.
The three westbound lanes on Kalanianaole Highway from Kaai Street to Waa Street remain closed. One eastbound lane is being used to contra flow traffic.
Special duty police officers are assisting with traffic. Motorists are advised to drive with caution in the area and to take an alternate travel route, if possible.
Repairs are anticipated to last throughout the night.
