Former Delta worker to change plea in meth ring

HONOLULU (AP) - A former Delta Air Lines employee has pleaded guilty to using her security credentials to help a meth trafficking ring operate between California and Hawaii.

Sifatutupu Fuamatu on Friday pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge involving distribution and possession of methamphetamine.

Fuamatu says that as a ramp agent she bypassed security checkpoints to smuggle hundreds of thousands of dollars in drug money from Honolulu to Los Angeles on flights with her husband.

A criminal complaint alleges Walter Dominguez paid her to transport the money. The complaint says he used Delta and Transportation Security Administration employees to put 30- to 40-pound drug shipments in already screened luggage checked in by a courier.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Loo says Dominguez paid Fuamatu $6,000 for each trip.

Sentencing is set for Dec. 9.
