Damien student sings valedictory address

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Damien Memorial School's valedictorian Ethan Dayton broke out into song during his valedictory address Sunday.

The private prep-school held their graduation for the class of 2013 at the Blaisdell Concert Hall.

Dayton said he did not want to do one of those "thanks-have-a-great-life-don't-die" speeches, so he decided to take a risk. He pulled out an MP3 player and began to sing a song that exemplified his class' senior year.

Dayton will be attending Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota.

You can watch him sing part of the speech here.
