Kainalu Elementary School to move on to national history competition

Five Kainalu Elementary School students won a statewide history competition for producing two videos -- "The History of Polio" and "Ho'opau Ke Kapu" (Abolishing the Kapu) -- under the direction of their teacher Irene Yamashita. Hunter Baehrens, Dawson "Boomer" Cadd, Hannah Frick, Justice Kaleopa'a and Rodney "Jr" Uyehara will all move on to the National History Contest at the University of will move on to the National History Day Contest at the University of Maryland. They will hold a fundraiser on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hasr Bistro. The money raised will help fund their trip to the mainland.
