Rose bushes stolen from Urban Garden in Pearl City

PEARL CITY, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

For the second time since its opening, Oahu's only public rose garden has become the target of plant thieves.

The Honolulu Rose Society says crooks dug up 13 newly planted rose bushes this week at the Urban Garden Center in Pearl City.  The missing plants are worth a total of $400 to $650.

"This is not the first time. When we started two years ago, the same thing happened. We had 30 to 40 of them stolen back then," said Ron Matsuzaki of the Honolulu Rose Society.

The Rose Society is asking the public to call police if they know anything about the stolen plants.
