American Cancer Society Hope Gala Honolulu

Posted: Updated:

(HawaiiNewsNow) - The American Cancer Society Hawai`i Pacific announces another headlining entertainer for its inaugural Hope Gala Honolulu - Midnight in Paris on Saturday, May 18. Rebecca Robbins, who is currently performing on Broadway in The Phantom of The Opera, will perform at the event. Robbins is a cancer survivor. Four months after making her Broadway debut in 2008, Robbins was diagnosed with stage II Hodgkin's Lymphoma and underwent months of treatment which included surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. At present, she is cancer free.

Robbins' colleague Jill Santoriello, the author of the Broadway musical A Tale of Two Cities that received 3 Outer Critics Circle nominations including one for Outstanding New Broadway Musical, has composed a special song for the event. Both met while Robbins performed in A Tale of Two Cities and have been good friends ever since. Santoriello will also be present at the gala.

The event is co-hosted by Liz Chun and Howard Dashefsky, and attendees are being asked to dress in vintage Paris or Hawaiian styles to complement the "Midnight in Paris" theme. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the Hope Gala Honolulu will benefit the mission of the American Cancer Society.
