Molokai hit with island-wide power outage

WAILUKU, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The entire island of Molokai was without power for hours Wednesday morning.

The outage that affected approximately 3,200 customers started at 9:40 a.m.

Maui Electric says parts of Kaunakakai were brought back on-line at 11:38 a.m. and Hoolehua, including the Airport, was restored to power at 11:43 a.m.

Customers on Molokai's west end were restored shortly thereafter at 11:51 a.m. and the Kualapuu area was brought back on-line at 12:03 p.m. Remaining customers were restored at 12:37 p.m.

Maui Electric is investigating the cause of the outage.
