Darton wins two, stays alive for championship series

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Darton State Cavaliers are playing each game this weekend like their season depends on it, because, quite frankly, it does.

In their first elimination game of the day, Brandon Sharpe delivered a go-ahead two-run homer in the bottom of the 6th, giving the Cavs a 2-1 lead over Gordon.

They would go on to win by the same score.

Darton would come back to Cavalier Field later Friday night, hoping to stay alive against West Georgia Tech.

In a game that featured 11 runs in the first three innings, the Cavs pulled away in the final three innings to win 13-5.

That means Darton must win two games Saturday against Middle Georgia to earn the program's first Region Tournament title.

The first of the possible two games begins at noon.
