Man charged after fatal stabbing at Mapunapuna homeless encampment

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 24-year-old man has been charged with second degree murder after allegedly stabbing another man to death at a homeless encampment on Sunday morning.

Herwin Magbulos was apprehended by police early Sunday afternoon. He was scheduled to make an initial court appearance Tuesday morning.

On Sunday, police said there had been a confrontation between the victim, 59-year-old Darryle Wong, and Magbulos beneath the highway, next to a bike path. Magbulos allegedly stabbed the older man several times. The victim was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Bail in the case has been set at $150,000.
