Suspicious package found; police re-open Keawe Street

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Honolulu police have re-opened Keawe Street from Ala Moana Boulevard to Ilalo Street after a suspicious package was reported in the area.

Police said the package was reported at 677 Ala Moana Boulevard at about 4:15 p.m.

The offices of the U.S. Geological Survey are located in the building of the address at which the package was received. It was a taped up box with no return address.

The box was isolated according to protocol, but police say only two lava rocks were inside. Someone sent them back to Hawaii because of supposed "bad luck" after having taken them from the island.

The road was re-opened just before 7 p.m.
